Thoughts on Favorite Books and Resources
I really appreciated the author’s personal perspective from working in the shadow of Willow Creek [Community Church]. He was able to paint a picture of what life is like on the inside of a megachurch. I have used that perspective when talking with people about what makes a church like ours different than the giant churches in our town. – Alex Groth (Beautiful Savior, Cincinnati, OH) on A Lutheran Looks At . . . Mega Churches
I have used both of these for personal devotions. Wonderful books, which, if following the church year, help keep one pointed in the right direction. – Michael Lindemann (St. John, Lewiston, MN) on On Giving Advice to God, Parts 1 and 2
A good and simple source of knowledge . . . especially liked the End Times teaching one as well. – Joel Pankow (Trinity, Bay City, MI) on the People’s Bible Teachings series
They’ve all been excellent sources of study but in particular, I enjoyed studying Church Fellowship with my Pastor Advisor and had a very engaging Bible class with my congregation on Civil Government. Both books also address a number of awkward/uncomfortable real-world scenarios and situations that really do need to be met head-on. I can honestly say that both Church Fellowship and Civil Government have helped me prepare for some of those more difficult conversations you have with people in the ministry. – Tyler Swiderski (St. Peter, Brodhead, WI) on the People’s Bible Teachings series
