Thoughts on Favorite Ministry Resources
I consult [Commentary on the Propers] weekly. It achieves the difficult balance of brevity and depth, always providing helpful guidance as I work through the propers of the lectionary for a given Sunday. This resource has more to offer than helping a pastor think through what he might preach. It has obvious benefits for sermon preparation and Bible study formation, but its value extends to worship planning and personal devotions. I appreciate the way the commentary anchors each individual Sunday within the broader scope of the Christian year, highlighting the emphasis for a given Sunday without losing our place in the larger framework of the whole life of Christ and of his Church. – Anonymous on Commentary on the Propers, Year C
My favorite NPH set is Hoenecke’s Lutheran Dogmatics. His presentation is just so thoughtful, Christ-centered, and deep. – Anonymous on Evangelical Lutheran Dogmatics
Pastor Appreciation Month is a time to thank called workers for faithfully preaching and teaching God’s Word to us. Not sure how to thank your pastor this year? Let him choose a gift with an NPH e-gift card!
