God does not lie. God does not make mistakes. God does not change.
Because of these immutable facts, his Word is inerrant.
When we say that the Bible is inerrant, we’re confessing that it is completely without error in everything it says—every doctrine, every detail, every promise. Inerrancy means that Scripture, in its original writings, is entirely true, not just in matters of faith and salvation, but in everything it affirms.
Built on the Character of God
Inerrancy flows directly from who God is. He is holy. He is truthful. He is perfect. So how could the Word he breathes out be anything less?
Proverbs 30:5 declares, “Every word of God has been refined. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Not some words. Not most. Every word. Refined. Pure. Without flaw.
Jesus reinforces this confidence when he says in John 17:17, “Sanctify them by the truth. Your word is truth.” Not just contains truth. It is truth. Always.
That means we never have to read Scripture with suspicion. We don’t need to correct it. We listen to it. God is not wrong—he is right, righteous, and reliable.
The Bible is not open to human editing. It’s not ours to improve or modernize. It stands, just as God gave it, as the final authority for faith and life.
Unshakable Ground in a Shifting World
In a culture of half-truths and redefinitions, the inerrancy of Scripture gives us a place to stand. We don’t have to wonder if God’s Word still applies. It does. We don’t have to fear that it’s outdated. It isn’t. Truth doesn’t expire. Truth endures.
So when the world calls you to doubt, return to the Word. When your heart feels tossed by fear or failure, anchor yourself to what does not change—the flawless Word of your flawless God.
A Prayer to Trust God’s Unfailing Word
Gracious Lord, thank you for giving us a Word that is true, trustworthy, and complete. When doubts rise or when others question your truth, strengthen me to stand firm. Remind me that your promises do not fail and your words are never wrong. Help me build my faith and life on the solid foundation of your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
