Wants vs. Needs
I want that, she thought, as she saw the shiny trophy swaying gently on the branch before her. I really, really want that . . . and I am going to have it. It wasn’t the bite that she took out of the fruit but the thought that preceded the bite. And while sharing is…

Respectfully Yours
Respect means taking the sidewalk instead of cutting across the lawn, asking to borrow your sister’s new sweater (not just wearing it and hoping she won’t notice), listening carefully to one more of Grandma’s stories from “way back when,” catching the door for a complete stranger. Respect is the reason you still can’t call your…

“Aren’t people basically good?”
The Sanhedrin, the ruling council of the Jews, wanted Jesus murdered in the worst way. Jesus made the Jewish rulers look bad. Pontius Pilate declared Jesus an innocent man before satiating the rulers’ hunger for an execution—to keep them happy. So it was that first century Israel and first century Rome—crowning human achievements in ethics…

Home Devotions
My five-year-old prays, “Dear Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross to take away our sins. Amen.” I never get tired of hearing it, and she never gets tired of praying it. Her prayer is in response to devotions we have together as a family. God encourages parents, “Train a child in the way…

The mission of Northwestern Publishing House is to deliver biblically sound, Christ-centered resources within the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and beyond. As the publisher for and subsidiary of the WELS, NPH has been a 501(c)(3) organization since 1966. This means that NPH is recognized as a non-profit and tax-exempt organization by the Internal Revenue Service.
We have fulfilled our mission for over 130 years. While publishing is much different today than when we first began, our ministry of serving others with the good news of salvation remains. God has blessed NPH with dedicated and gifted servants who daily carry out his work. We are deeply thankful for the people who have been instrumental in our ministry in years past and who play a role today.
To God be the glory!
