This week, we continue with even more recommendations from pastors around the country! Read about pastors’ favorite NPH books to use in their ministries on a regular basis. Then, be sure to check out the ones they recommend for your own spiritual growth! To learn more about each resource, click the link after the pastor’s name.
Thoughts on Favorite Ministry Resources
Personally, just about anything written by Prof. Deutschlander has a place in my top three. I’ve included three books here just as examples, but frankly, it’s very difficult to choose one, let alone three. Prof. Deutschlander wrote with a clarity and depth rarely seen in theological writing. Yet no matter the subject on which he wrote, one thing was always certain: The reader always saw Jesus. God has given our generation and those to come after us an embarrassment of Christ-centered, theological riches from the pen of Prof. Deutschlander. Blessed be his memory and, above all, thanks be to God. – Jeremiah Gumm (King of Kings, Maitland, FL) on Grace Abounds: The Splendor of Christian Doctrine and On Giving Advice to God, Parts 1 and 2
This book was super helpful as a young pastor trying to find the law/gospel heart of a text. Dr. Becker was blessed with a gift for explaining complex concepts in a beautifully clear way. I still go to this book each time I preach with the hope that my text will be in there. – Alex Groth (Beautiful Savior, Cincinnati, OH) on The Word Goes On: Sermons by Dr. Siegbert W. Becker
Pastor Appreciation Month is a time to thank called workers for faithfully preaching and teaching God’s Word to us. Not sure how to thank your pastor this year? Let him choose a gift with an NPH e-gift card!
